HAMPTON ROADS CHAPTER
OF THE BLINDED VETERANS ASSOCIATION
November 16, 2007
The HRBVA meeting was called to order at 9:15 AM at the Hampton VA Medical Center. The pledge of Allegiance was led by Robert Byrd and opening prayer was offered by Ralph Lawton.
Introductions around the room were conducted by Betty Stump. Minutes of the October 26, 2007 meeting were read. There being no corrections, a motion was made and seconded to approve them. Approval was made by voice vote.
Treasurer Kitty Hazelwood reported a local balance of $254.95 and regional account balance of $959.00.
Discussion was held regarding the $500.00 to be given by the Regional Group for our use. Part of it will be used for our upcoming Christmas lunch at the Golden Corral. Any remaining balance will need to be spent prior to the Regional Spring meeting.
Linda Carter of the Medical Center thanked the group profusely for the donation of toiletries to be distributed among the patients.
Robert reminded everyone of the importance of joining the national BVA due to the importance of member numbers when Congress is lobbied on our behalf.
Robert said the Christmas party will be held at the Golden Corral on Mercury Boulevard in Hampton on December 21st at 10 AM.
Hardy asked everyone to call him at 826-6661 to update the mailing and email addresses if there has been a change. Discussion was also held regarding an update of the name and address list.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11 AM.
Respectfully submitted, Jean McFarlane, Secretary
