Hampton BVA Chapter meeting minutes:
HAMPTON ROADS CHAPTER
OF THE BLINDED VETERANS ASSOCIATION
January 25, 2008
The HRBVA meeting was called to order at 9 AM at the Hampton VA Medical Center. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Vice President Lee Jarrett and the opening prayer was offered by Mac McFarlane. There were 3 speakers – Earl Johnson from Social Security, Lisa Walker of Bay Aging regarding Medicare and Allen Bareford of Enhanced Vision who demonstrated a new product.
Lee announced there will be a 2 day BVA Leadership Program held in Washington, D.C. Thursday and Friday, April 4th and 5th. Regional BVA will pay expenses for 1 person. The 2nd person would be funded from our local account or possibly the $226.00 available to us from Richmond (this remaining from the $500.00 offered to us.) The idea is to train 2 individuals that are willing to take office locally. A committee has been appointed, namely Lee Jarrett, Forrest Black, Hardy Alexander and Patrick O’Keeffe to select the two people that would attend.
Treasurer Kitty Hazelwood reported donations today are $62.00; $30.00 will be paid to Rev. Diggs for van use and the remaining $32.00 plus $24.00 for sale of 2 hats for a total of $56.00 will be deposited today bringing our local balance to $273.95. Our Regional account balance remains at $959.00.
Tom Eaton reported 5 web sites have been established as of Jan.1, 2008. The web site is www.margbva.org.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 11:55 AM. Our next meeting is Feb. 22, 2008.
Respectfully submitted Jean McFarlane, Secretary
