   HAMPTON ROADS CHAPTER

 OF THE BLINDED VETERANS ASSOCIATION

 April 25, 2008

The HRBVA meeting was called to order at the Hampton VA Medical Center by President Robert Byrd.  After the Pledge of Allegiance, Elder Ralph Lawton offered a prayer.  Our guest speakers were the Buffalo Soldiers, Mark Matthews Chapter, of Petersburg, VA.  The choice of food for the May 23rd picnic will be hot dogs, hamburgers and brats.  Everyone will bring a dish to enjoy.  Carole O’Keeffe gave a report on the Regional Meeting held in Richmond.

Treasurer Kitty Hazelwood reported a balance on hand of $178.06.  She issued a check to Copy Center for $23.10; a $50.00 check to Forrest Black to help defray expenses to the Regional Meeting and a $50.00 check to the Buffalo Soldiers leaving a balance of  $54.96.  A check for $18.54 was received from Norman Miller leaving a new balance of $73.50.  Our donations today were $36.00, $30.00 of which was paid to Rev. Diggs for transportation.

Robert said there is a good possibility of the Buffalo Soldiers making a return visit to us in February 2009.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.  Our next meeting will be May 23, 2008.

Respectfully submitted,

Jean McFarlane, Secretary
