General J. Weeks Jr.

 

General J. Weeks Jr. DEDHAM General J. Weeks Jr., a resident of Dedham for over 45 years, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Highgate Manor. He was born in Floyd, Va., son of the late General J. & Gazelle (Robertson) Weeks.

 

He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. Mr. Weeks was a fleet maintenance supervisor for the Coca-Cola plant in Needham for many years. A member of the Veteran of foreign Wars Post 2017, and a member of the honor guard there for 30 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 18 in Dedham,  district director for the Blinded Veteran's Association, past president and treasurer of the Massachusetts Regional Group and the treasurer for the Dedham Commission for Disabilities. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila A. (Drake) Weeks of Dedham; his children, Donald E. and his wife, Brenda, of Auburn, Maine, Robert J. and his wife, Suzy, of Dedham and Mary E. and her husband, Richard Czyras, of Canton; his grandchildren, Eric Weeks of Auburn, Maine, William Weeks, Julie Anne and Tyler Czyras. He is also survived by his brothers, Clyde Weeks of Chicago, Carl Weeks of Fredericksburg, Va., and Allen Weeks of Floyd, Va.; his sisters, Velva Weeks and Donna Russell, both of Rockville, Md. He was the father of the late Julie Weeks and brother of the late Richard Weeks. He will also be missed by his guide dog companion, Brady.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m., in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 950 East St., Dedham. Burial will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Donations in General's memory may be made to St. Luke's Church, 950 East St., Dedham, MA 02026, or VNA Hospice, 175 Highland Ave., Needham, MA 02494.
