For all BVA membership and key contacts, the Hurricane season is now upon us and there have been other disasters occurring that the disabled community should be prepared for and below is information on recent congressional hearing that covered this topic.

We would stress that each disabled person should know what the county or city plans are for help in the case of major storms, and make sure that there is a representative from veteran service organizations on the planning committee locally. The time to find out there is no plan is not during an emergency, but before one occurs.

 

Marcie Roth, Director of FEMA’s Office of Disability Integration and Coordination, is pleased to pass along the following information from the Congressional Hearing before the Subcommittee on Emergency Communications, Preparedness, and Response.
