Official Meeting Notice

and Registration Form

The Mid-Atlantic Regional Group of the BVA will hold its fall meeting for 2008 on Saturday, October 11, in the training facility of Integration Technologies Group, Inc., located at 2735 Hartland Road, Falls Church, VA  22043.  It is located off the Capitol Beltway (I-495).  Take US Route 50 West to Gallows Road, north, and go 3 traffic lights to US Route 29 (Lee Highway), and turn right.  Turn left at first traffic light (Hartland Road) to 2735 Hartland Road on the right.  A continental breakfast and registration will begin at 8:30 AM.  As our host will also be providing lunch, you must register in advance if you desire lunch.

For those coming from out-of-town, a very good rate of $72 per night has been arranged at The Vienna Wolf Trap Hotel, 430 Maple Avenue West, Vienna, VA 22180, for both Friday and Saturday nights.  You MUST make your own hotel reservations by October 1 by calling 703-281-2330.  Be sure to tell them that you are part of the Blinded Veterans Group to insure getting the $72 rate per night.  There will be an informal social gathering Friday evening at a nearby restaurant hosted by the Regional Group President.

Please complete the enclosed Registration Form and send it to me in the enclosed self-addressed, free-matter envelope.  There is no registration fee.  Please indicate on the Registration Form if you desire the agenda in Braille.  Registration forms must be postmarked by October 1 as I need to give our host a count for lunch.

Our opening speaker will be US Army Captain Ivan Castro from the Joint Warfare Center, Ft. Bragg, NC.  Captain Castro is blind and still on active duty.  Following his presentation ITG will be demonstrating their training methods to include sample classes on the Victor Stream and the Breeze navigation device.  For those who have these devices, you are encouraged to bring them with you.  Following lunch, we will discuss our Regional Group’s responsibilities as host of the 2010 BVA National Convention.  Additional discussions will include distribution of funds to our active chapters in support of their activities this fall and winter as well as other business as may be required. There will be door prizes every hour.  Come and get yours!

Several members have expressed an interest in helping defray the cost of these meetings in the past and, accordingly if this is your desire or if you would like to contribute to the general fund of the Regional Group, please make your contribution payable to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Group, BVA and return it in the enclosed envelope.
